The email pricing change log

Most tools don't announce price increases — they quietly edit the pricing page. We keep the receipts. Every change below is dated, described, and reflected in our calculators; entries marked reported are changes we verified against the live pricing page without a published effective date.

  1. MailerLite

MailerLite raises prices across every tier and cuts its free plan to 250 subscribers

New pricing took effect June 16, 2026: paid plans rose roughly 10–30% across subscriber tiers, the free plan now covers 250 subscribers (down from 1,000), and the free sending cap dropped to 2,500 emails/month. MailerLite remains one of the cheapest full-featured platforms — but the gap narrowed.

  2. Kit (ConvertKit)

Kit's free Newsletter plan now caps at 1,000 subscribers

Kit's pricing page now lists the free plan at up to 1,000 subscribers — many 2026 reviews still cite the older 10,000-subscriber free tier, which no longer appears for new signups. The Creator plan starts at $39/mo at 1,000 subscribers.

  3. Mailchimp

Mailchimp's free plan shrinks to 250 contacts

The free tier now covers 250 contacts (down from 500) with 1,000 sends/month — and total contacts, including unsubscribed, count toward the limit. Mailchimp remains the priciest mainstream option as lists grow.

  4. GetResponse

GetResponse drops its permanent free plan

GetResponse no longer offers a free-forever plan — new users get a 14-day trial, then must pick a paid tier (Starter from $19/mo at 1,000 contacts). It stays one of the best-value paid options at larger list sizes.

  5. Flodesk

Flodesk retires its famous flat-rate unlimited plan

Flodesk's $38/mo unlimited-subscribers plan — its signature differentiator — closed to new customers on December 2, 2025 (existing subscribers were grandfathered). New pricing scales by subscriber count like the rest of the market: Lite from $19/mo at 1,000 subscribers, up to $149/mo at 25,000.

  6. SendGrid

SendGrid replaces its free plan with a 60-day trial

The long-running free tier (100 emails/day forever) was retired in favour of a 60-day trial — after it ends, you must move to a paid plan (Essentials from ~$20/mo). Developers wanting a permanent free tier now look to Brevo (300/day) or Resend (3,000/month).
